Covenant (FV#1)

Deuteronomy is a passionate message from Moses to the people of God. He urges the people to remember God's faithfulness to His covenant of love. He reminds them of the obedience that's required to maintain this relationship.

Deuteronomy 7:9

Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His covenant and steadfast love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, to a thousand generations.

As we know, the story continues and the people struggle and fail, - as all of us do. They can't keep the obedience going. That's where God's faithfulness proves to be truly amazing - unending.

Not only does God ALWAYS keep covenant and steadfast love -

God brings the ultimate act of love by also taking on our end of the deal.

We are not capable of keeping our side of the covenant, but Jesus brings the New Covenant.

Jesus pays for all our sin; removes the separation; gives us a new life - a spiritual rebirth.

The Old Covenant exposed our weakness and failure.

But God knew from the beginning we would need help.

The New Covenant turns weakness into a fullness. God's saving grace invades our emptiness, and a Way is made for covenant.

Praise be to God for the ultimate, indescribable faithfulness of His love.

Covenant is real and possible with the Lord your God. He is God.
